Cat Training - Dealing with Extreme Meowing
It is the natural thought of the owners that the extreme meowing of their cat is just because they are hungry. Nevertheless, there can be more than one reason behind the cat’s extreme meowing. They could have some medical problems, be bored, are not comfortable or may want you to spend time with them. To put an end to the habit of excessive meowing, you could reward them when they are silent and ignore them when they are noisy.
You must make sure that the cat learns when its meowing is acceptable and appropriate. The cats should seldom meow unless they need anything. Since cats do not follow any regular routine, it is your responsibility to make sure that they do the right things at the right time such as playing, going outside etc. In addition, you must follow a routine as to when to spend your time with the cat. Typical time to spend the time with your pet is after a day of work when you too would like to relax.
Even though most of the cats purr only when they are satisfied, it may also indicate that they are dying or sick. Therefore, you must pay close attention in such situations and take the necessary actions. However, if the cat does not purr it might also indicate that it is sick with some virus. You also must deal with such a situation by taking your cat to the vet.
Another reason behind excessive meowing can be their emotions. Meowing is the only way by which the cats could express their emotions of fear, compassion, grief or jealousy. Hence, it is the duty of the owner to try to understand the cat as much as possible and pay at most attention to the cat to maintain a healthy relationship with it.
